This year's Pure Fashion Show was hosted by Barbara McKay! Barbara is one of television's most recognized personalities. Her delightful interviewing style and appealing approach in communicating with a television audience made her a TV mainstay for over 25 years. Barbara appeared daily as co-host of a noontime show on CBS affiliate WBTV for 16 years, instructing thousands of viewers on different approaches to culinary excellence, and interviewing top local, regional, and national experts on a variety of topics.
Barbara has served as spokesperson for two of America's largest and most successful supermarket chains, Winn Dixie and Harris Teeter. She has done daily cooking features, a 30-minute cooking show, and direct mail videos. She has written 5 successful cookbooks and in-store recipe guides, as well as magazine articles sharing her favorite recipes.
In addition to the talk and cooking shows, one of her favorite projects was Racing Home, a show that she created, executive produced and hosted featuring the most famous families of NASCAR in their homes. Racing Home aired weekly in most every U.S. market for two years. She has also appeared in a CBS mini-series, the CBS daytime dramas "The Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns."
Our keynote speaker is one of the most sought after speakers for girls and young women in the United States. As an award-winning Christian speaker, Emmy-nominated TV show host, NBC's Apprentice TV show semi-finalist and author - Julie Laipply - specializes in helping young women develop self-confidence, self-esteem, and a positive self-identity through God's love.
Julie Laipply has come a long way from the "monkey legs" and "nerd" nicknames of high school where she couldn't even get a date to prom. Julie attributes making healthy choices-including her commitment to abstinence until marriage-and following God's calling as key reasons she has achieved incredible success at a young age:
* Through her faith, Julie started her own business at the age of 14 to pay for college.
* She won Miss Virginia USA 2002 to further her reach to impact young people
* She left a prestigious career and a six-figure income as a Senior Management Consultant for the Pentagon where she coached top executives in leadership for four years in order to follow God's calling for her to serve as a voice of truth for youth.
Audiences are moved by her powerful testimony, are wowed by her program's interactive demonstrations and are inspired through her candid delivery on the power of being a virtuous woman in today's world.
Musical guest for this year's show was the Christian group, Carried Away. This female trio was named the best selling Canadian debut artist for 2005 in Canada. They have performed with Casting Crowns, Bryan Duncan, Joyce Martin, Twila Paris & Avalon. Sisters Colleen and Pam Walker and cousin Christine Prankard had other ideas about their life. But the Lord moves in mysterious ways as the three young ladies quickly found out. "We sing about salvation and it's evident on our album, but it's magnified even more in concert. "Our goal is to inspire people in spirit and in truth and to let everyone know God has a plan for all of our lives.
